Overview : DCSN is seeking a dynamic, creative, and experienced Director of Operations and Communications to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in overseeing operations and leading communications efforts to advance the mission of DCSN and support charter schools across our state. This position requires a strong understanding of business / nonprofit management, operations, financial platforms, state legislative work, advocacy, social media platforms, and excellent communications skills. Responsibilities: Operations Management § Oversee administrative tasks, including budgeting, financial reporting, invoicing, accounts receivable, and compliance with state regulations. § Ensure compliance with grant and contract requirements. § Create and manage tool(s) to track and report on staff time and resources. § Make sure that required documents, including 990 forms and other regulatory reports, are accurate and filed on time. § Coordinate with internal team members and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and effective communication. § Coordinate with external partners to manage the Alternative Route to Certification for Charter Leader. § Provide program support as needed. Communications § Manage DCSN’s communications channels, including websites, social media platforms, email newsletters, and press releases. § Work with DCSN team to create compelling content, including articles, blog posts, and multimedia materials, to engage stakeholders and highlight charter school success stories. § Cultivate and coordinate relationships with media outlets and key influencers for DCSN Executive Director to enhance Delaware charter school visibility and influence. § Assist Executive Director with grant writing, fee for service proposals, and other funding initiatives. Qualifications: § Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred. § Minimum of 5 years of experience in business or nonprofit operations, communications, education, or related fields. § Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and financial reporting. § Familiarity with state legislative processes and advocacy tactics. § Passion for education reform and a deep understanding of charter schools and their role in the education landscape. § Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences. § Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. § Highly motivated, energetic, creative, and solution-oriented individual. § Proficient in Word, Excel, Microsoft Office 365, Canva, Zoom, and Mighty Networks or similar software platforms. § Ability to travel across the state (15 – 20% of your time depending on where you live) § Hybrid / remote work schedule available (at least one day a week will need to be spent at office in Wilmington, 19801) § Must have reliable / stable internet access with the ability to use Zoom with video and audio enabled.
