**Description**

Star Tribune is looking for an editor who can drive ambitious, sophisticated digital and print coverage of business in Minnesota. This editor will lead a team of reporters who cover real estate, personal finance, housing and urban development, health care and medical technology. We need a leader with an eye for stories that have impact and relevance to our readers, a commitment to the community and an ability to work collaboratively to deliver outstanding results.

You must be an experienced editor who is fast and flexible, able to react instantly and smartly to news developments on a daily basis. This team leader also must be adept at developing long-term plans from words to visuals to social media/audience plans for comprehensive and sophisticated coverage of some of the biggest companies, from Medtronic to UnitedHealth, to innovative start-ups without losing sight of the people and communities affected most by those industries. You must be able to thrive in a highly competitive environment and work well with people, as a supervisor and colleague. Applicants should demonstrate strong story-development and editing skills and sound news judgment.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

* Minimum six years of related experience.

* A commitment to coverage that represents and speaks to Minnesotas increasingly diverse communities.

* An ability to communicate well with other editors and colleagues including photo, graphics, digital and print designers, copy editors, data and our digital/social/audience teams.

* Complete understanding of online and print publishing standards and reader expectations.

* A record of timely publishing to online and using alternative story forms or other ways of meeting the needs of our audience.

* A spirit of collaboration is essential.

* Hours are full-time, with occasional nights and weekends.
