General Summary The primary responsibility is to serve as a liaison between the organization, the Collections department, and legal counsel, ensuring all required timelines are met and all records remain accurate to protect the Credit Union in the event of a loss. This role also oversees most clerical functions for the Collections Department. Essential Functions Restrict and hold funds in accounts upon notification from approved sources such as garnishments and child support enforcement. Assist in preparing for the legal process of filing judgments, including checks, documents with legal counsel, data filing, and coordination with third?party collection agencies. Act as the primary liaison between attorneys, the Collections department, and management. Serve as liaison with attorneys or agencies in filing legal action against members. Assist in collecting data for the Collections and Accounting departments to prepare documentation for the Board of Directors. Serve as primary contact during bankruptcy and repossession transactions, acting as liaison between CF CU legal counsel and members bankruptcy attorneys. Assist third?party collection agencies in the levy process by preparing documentation and retrieving files from the system. Initiate and maintain IT work orders for re?ages, extensions, and workout loans until completed satisfactorily. Balance internal general ledger accounts affecting or originating in the department. Pull charged?off negative share accounts and assign them to be called. Track stipulations and follow up on defaults in a timely manner. Assist with the new?hire training process. Additional Functions Clear out the E?Oscar system regularly. Enter charge?off shares/ draft accounts into Chex?Systems. Maintain department logs such as the Bankruptcy Log, Account Closings, and Account Restricts. Assist members with account?related questions. Post payments on credit cards, negative accounts, and delinquent loans. Collaborate with Collections to minimize loss through loans and negative accounts. Create reports and spreadsheets as requested by management. Calculate and correct payments for error corrections on loan accounts. Manage Debt Protection and CPI claims. Back up the recovery specialist by attending Small Claims court and completing the mediation process to secure stipulation agreements. Perform additional duties as assigned.
