Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for Prototype Department including, but not limited to personnel, machines, equipment and all necessary support systems for manufacturing processes while considering production schedules, quality standards, continuous improvement and cost standards.
·
Plan and direct prototype activities and establish production goals and priorities to support effective operations, cost factors and timely deliveries.
·
Communicate and work cross functionally to resolve problems. Understand and execute directions and instructions. Follow through on instructions/directions and provide constructive feedback to all levels of the organization.
·
Project scheduling includes review/approving work orders, expediting delivery, and scheduling products by machine or employee.
·
Maintains corporate goal flow-down methods and training procedures necessary to ensure total process control with documentation throughout align with company policy.
·
Ensuring compliance with the requirements of the manufacturing process specifications/standards ISO TS 16949, ISO 13485, MEDSAP, FDA and specific requirements of the customer / regulatory requirements.
·
Observes and evaluates the progress towards departmental goals within Prototype Department by measuring continuous improvement of the following: cost, quality of product, safety and work procedures, individual performance, housekeeping standards and preventive maintenance program.
·
Develop, mentor and promote employees to follow best practices and standards. Identify and implement continuous improvement projects.Train employees in the use of new fixtures, tools and other technologies as they get introduced to the manufacturing floor.Educate employees in the proper use of equipment and processes, enforce safety regulations, assign tasks, and oversee employees' work.
·
Requisitions new and replacement personnel; approves new hires; recommends dismissals and transfers with Human Resources Department.
·
Participates in and supports Environmental, Health and Safety programs.

Industry- Wide Technical Competencies
·
Demonstrated proven experience in lean manufacturing and six sigma principles as well as knowledge of regulatory standards
·
CNC machining, programming, welding and / or manufacturing engineering experience
·
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
·
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
·
PC Literacy, Windows, Microsoft Office Software along with Alpha Manufacturing & Design software programs, i.e., E2 and Inspection Expert
·
Previous management/supervision experience in manufacturing required.
·
Ability to influence others. Ability to motivate personnel in an empowered work team environment and be able to lead and hold accountable different levels of personnel from hourly team members to engineers.
·
Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
·
Assists in development of all new training and development programs to assure employee and product quality.
·
Develops departmental goals and specific objectives
·
Ability to create, understand and make decisions based on business unit financials and metrics.
