Job Description MECHANICAL ENGINEER – FEED FUEL SWITCHING

Due to the ongoing success of this initiative, we are currently looking for highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineers to join our dedicated team in undertaking the Front-End Engineering Design of cutting-edge industrial fuel switching projects.

Position Overview: As a Mechanical Engineer within our FEED Fuel Switching team, you will play a leading role in designing, planning and developing the mechanical systems that underpin our industrial solutions projects. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of designers, engineers and project managers to deliver engineering solutions contributing to a low-carbon and energy resilient future.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and contribute to the conceptualisation, design and optimisation of mechanical systems for fuel switching initiatives.

Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanical components into comprehensive energy solutions

Apply your in-depth understanding of fuel switch technologies to develop innovative approaches that maximise energy efficiency and minimise environmental impact.

Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments to evaluate the viability of fuel switch projects, considering economic, environmental and operational factors.

Utilise advanced simulation and modelling tools to predict performance, analyse system behaviour, and optimise mechanical designs.

Provide technical support / leadership in the development of engineering specifications, standards, and procedures related to fuel switching and future energy projects.

Act as a subject matter expert, staying up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies in the field of sustainable energy.

Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand their requirements, address technical concerns, and provide solutions that align with their sustainability goals.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

Proven experience in mechanical engineering roles related to future energy projects, with a specific focus on fuel switching.

Proficiency in utilising CAD software for design and simulation purposes.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.

Knowledge of renewable energy systems, energy storage, and grid integration is a plus.

Familiarity with UK energy policies, regulations, and standards related to fuel switching and sustainability also a plus.

Excellent communication skills to convey technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Professional engineering certification (Chartered Engineer status) is advantageous.
