Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.About the Technician (Associate, Level I) PositionThe Technician, position may be filled at the Associate Level or Level I depending on the skill set within the talent pool. In general, a Technician repairs systems and assist with equipment installation and maintenance across the Colonial system. A Technician is responsible for installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of industrial, electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems at Colonial Pipeline. Technicians read and interpret technical material (i.e. Colonial, vendor and contractor electrical and mechanical drawings, prints and manuals, R-O-W alignments sheets, etc.). What You Get to Do:
•The Associate Technician works closely with a qualified technician to attain the necessary training. Under supervision of a qualified trainer or qualified technician, the Associate Technician is responsible for acquiring the knowledge, skills and abilities to become eligible for the Technician I job classification. Associate Technician participates in Colonial's NexGen Technician Training program and attends coordinated classes and workshops to enhance technical skills/knowledge.
•Technician I provides oversight and direction of contractor personnel in facility maintenance and special projects. Some requisition and budget management such as but not limited to; Orders parts and materials for routine maintenance and special projects.
•Assist in or completes required documentation including Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) reporting, completion reports, work orders, invoices, etc.
•Serve on District Emergency Response Team. May maintain emergency response equipment.What You Bring to the Table:
•High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) from an accredited educational institution.
•Valid Driver's License to drive company and personal vehicles with the ability drive company and personal vehicles for picking up materials, to get around large facilities in minimum time, and to travel to locations away from assigned location.
•Ability to work all hours, including holidays, and/or weekends as required; subject to call-out and occasional overtime.
•Ideally, 1+ years of industrial related experience in technical or operations (mechanical or electrical) related field experience.
•Mechanical aptitude, including knowledge of machines and tools, and their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
•Able to demonstrate critical thinking and decision making.

•Apprenticeship completed and/or Associate or Technical degree in a related field of study from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education.
•Ideally, 1+ years of industrial maintenance or Pipeline Operational experience.
•Ideally, 3+ years of industrial field operations experience, with approximately 2+ years as a mechanical/ electrical technician.
•Ideally, 1+ years of experience as a Pipeline Technician.
•Completed Skill sets I and II of NexTech. Training, Operations fundamentals, and required Instructor led training as specified in the NexTech training program.
•Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training; Forklift training/licensing, any other State licenses.This is a Department of Transportation (DOT) covered job and is subject to all applicable regulatory requirements such as testing for the presence of prohibited drugs and alcohol as defined under 49 CFR Part 199 as a condition of employment, to include pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable cause/suspicion and fit for duty testing.Physical Requirements & Work Conditions: Must be able to work indoors and outdoors at all hours in all weather conditions in close proximity to refined petroleum products and heavy equipment. Physical mobility to sit, stand, reach, pull, push, and bend. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted. Ability to work in non-permit required confined spaces. Ability to verbally communicate by two-way radio. The ability to traverse uneven terrain. Operate various types of tools and equipment safely and efficiently. Climb tank steps up to 60 ft. high and climb vertical ladders to valve platforms. Ability to work from valve platforms and tanks to 60-foot heights. Normal visual acuity to perform duties of position. If vision is corrected, must be corrected to 20/40 or better. Must have ability to distinguish colors, especially red, green, white, and black. Color recognition for control panel indicator lights to analyze product colors. Ability to detect the presence of petroleum products by smell.
