Job description

CMM Programmer / Inspector

This position is responsible for all CMM programming, setup and inspection of manufactured product to verify conformance to engineering Drawings/Specifications/Standard specifications, developing and implementing internal training of CMM System, performing first piece, incoming, in-process, and final inspection, and reporting results in a manner which fully describes the component part, subassembly, or finished product as required.

  • Advanced programming skills using a Brown and Sharp CMM and/or Giddings & Lewis Cordax.
  • Ability to operate and program a Brown and Sharp CMM and/or Giddings & Lewis Cordax.
  • Ability to interpret Engineering Drawings/Specifications/Standards and approach/apply/explain knowledge clearly, concisely and logically.
  • Ability to interpret and obtain product information, such as specified material, surface finish, and dimensions. using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicator, and snap gauge.
  • Review and verify inspection and testing of products to ensure product meets specifications.
  • Maintains, perform and document established calibration intervals on all Inspection, Measurement, and Test Equipment.
  • Practical knowledge of measures and dimensions, such as length, height, and distance, between reference points, using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicator, and snap gauge, to ensure product meets specifications.
  • Ability to locates a reference point on part and measures dimension such as angle, arc, and radii, using combinations of aids, such as surface plate parallel bars, angle plates, gauge blocks, V blocks, sine bars, and precision measuring instrument.
  • Performs first article, in-process and final inspections.
  • Generate appropriate and detailed documentation, record keeping, and reports of results and performance
  • Review and verify inspection and testing of parts for compliance, ensures that only acceptable product moves to the next operation.
  • Review and verify inspection and testing of products for compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Maintained collaboration with all internal company representatives and departments.
  • Provides input on technical matters pertaining to inspection methodology and responsibility.
  • Completed non-conformance reports in writing for defected parts and initiate corrective action as needed.
  • Assist in addressing and resolving production problems causing deviations from standards.
  • Performs a detailed inspection plan or test requirements. Communicates, Tagg, and maintains appropriate records.
  • Reports to Quality Manager and works with appropriate functional areas to resolve discrepancies.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of DISCUS.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of (PC DMIS)
  • 5+ years of CMM Programming experience
