Purpose of this Job: This job is responsible for developing product in compliance with Sanden and customer requirements. This role will include electric compressor development, design, testing, and reporting with engineering theory / logic.This role will also include training for other engineers and staff.Other responsibilities include support for projects. RequirementsPrinciple Duties/Essential Functions: Execute product development by achieving technical goals. Complete engineering tasks (design/testing/development).Achieve technical goals and tasks with PDCA for product development including cross-functional activity.Develop engineering solutions for suppliers and cross-functional members to meet required needs.Develop engineering laboratory testing methods and equipment.Develop global engineering laboratory testing methods and equipment.Coach/mentor engineers and other staff based on expertise.Achieve departmental execution plans and goals by product development. Ability to develop new concept design products.Develop engineering solutions for external customers, suppliers, and cross-functional members to meet required needs.Achieve design consensus by resolving technical issues globally.Coach/mentor engineers and other staff for Design Engineering growth based on expertise.Other Tasks/Responsibilities:Work with other Sanden locations to ensure product designs are consistent. Provide technical support to internal and external customers.Ability to conduct technical feasibility studies for new development.Support / participate in the project team(s) as an engineering expert.Establish engineering reports independentlyEstablish technical presentation material for internal and external customers as needed. Responsible for awareness and compliance with company Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. Contributing to the effectiveness of the EHS policies and procedures by communicating and reporting unsafe conditions and/or non-compliance.Other projects as assigned by management.Competencies:Critical ThinkingTechnical KnowledgeActive LearningOrganizational SkillsComplex Problem-Solving SkillsInnovative ThinkingEducation:Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar disciplineKnowledge, Skills, and Experience:5+ years experience in automotive electrical design & control software/hardware development & applications, vehicle & testing & diagnostics, including expert knowledge of CAN / LIN communicationExperience with PCB and all different types of electrical components including MOSFETS, IGBT, and Power SuppliesWorking knowledge of electric vehicle thermal management systems is preferredWorking knowledge of mechanical compressors, especially scroll compressors is preferredWorking knowledge of current computer technology and applications such as CAE and MS Office applicationsExcellent communication and presentation skills with internal and external customersKnowledgeable of ISO-9001, ISO-14001 and IATF proceduresPhysical Demands:Routine lifting of 25 lb. loads (compressors) may be necessaryPossible exposure to high noise levelsPossible exposure to chemicals (oils, refrigerants, solvents)Exposure to environmental temperatures 30 - 110 degrees FahrenheitAbility to work effectively under pressure and be able to prioritize workloadsPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE):PPE required based on specific projects and location Work Environment/Hours:The primary work area is in an office setting and lab/testing roomsMust work normal office hours plus provide support on evenings and weekends (as needed)Primary Work Location:Wylie, TXTravel Requirements:0 - 10% domestic0 - 5% international to countries such as but not limited to Japan, MexicoCompany management reserves the right to add, delete, or otherwise alter assigned duties at any time.
