Department Secretary- Per Diem

Under the supervision of the Non-Invasive Testing Department (NITD) Director and Operations Manager, the department secretary performs a wide range of secretarial duties for the following NITD areas: Autonomic Testing; Cardiac Stress Testing; EEG: Echocardiography Lab; EKG; Pulmonary Function Testing; and Vascular Lab.
- PC, word processing and data entry skills
- Answering department phones in a professional manner
- Greeting patients in a friendly, professional and welcoming manner
- Checking in patients for their appointments via Epic
- Scheduling patient appointments as necessary
- Communicating with staff, department heads, physicians, and physician offices
- Maintain service schedule for all office equipment.
- Maintain detailed scheduling system via Epic
- Confirm patient appointments not confirmed via the automated reminder system
- Review weekly non-contracted patient list and acquire appropriate insurance authorization when needed prior to patient appointment date
- Answer any patient questions and provide information regarding exams to patients via phone
- Keep patients notified of any appointment delays and provide service recovery vouchers as needed
- Create, maintain and update department consent forms as needed
- Ability to investigate, troubleshoot and problem solve technical or other issues which may arise
- Ordering and stocking office supplies as needed
- Directing patients to their next appointment, walking them there if appropriate
- Additional duties as assigned by the department Director or Operations Manager

Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.Associate's Degree or higher preferred
- 1-3 years of customer service experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 is preferred
- Experience with Epic is preferred
- Ability to multi-task and make decisions quickly as situations arise
- Knowledge of standard office equipment
- Professional and confidential telephone skills
