Welding EngineerWeir ESCOCovingtonOnsitePurpose of Role: We are seeking an experienced Welding Engineer or Welding focused Manufacturing Engineer to support our Mining and Construction bucket fabrication site in Covington, KY. The ideal candidate will have a strong background supporting steel sheet and plate welding processes in a production environment. This candidate will optimize welding process productivity, develop and deploy welding processes, implement ergonomic and human factor improvements, and automation. Develop fixtures and tools which support product fabrication.Develop, test, and implement improvements to productivity, quality, and safety.Explore alternative processes and methods which can increase productivity, quality and safety.Welding AutomationDevelop and deploy automation to increase manufacturing productivity.Automate flow of data to and from welding equipment.Follow and benchmark industry trends and relevant R&D.Design for ManufacturingPartner with Product Design teams to optimize product designs for efficient manufacturing.Develop Inspection methodology, tolerance analysis and process capability.Technical LeadershipMentor site staff who are eager to learn and advance welding capabilities.Network among the ESCO sites to establish welding and fabrication best practices.Foster a collaborative, innovative, and effective work environment.Safety FirstDemonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:Bachelors of Science in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology or Engineering with an extensive background in Welding support.Demonstrated success supporting and optimizing steel sheet and plate welding processes in a production environment.Mechanical design, proficiency in CAD modeling and analysis tools with experience designing welding fixtures and production tools.Background in ferrous metallurgy and failure analysis.Experience with overlay, metal additive manufacturing, and castings are a plus.Experience with machining process optimization is a plus.Founded in 1871, Weir is a world leading engineering business with a purpose to make mining operations smarter, more efficient and sustainable.
