Under guidance from an Engineer Level II or Senior Engineer as appropriated, the Engineer Level I provides engineering skills to projects, tendering activities, engineering studies relevant to structural design area. The Engineer will usually work as part of a team and may also be required to provide information and engineering guidance to other functions such as SCM and operation team. All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide skills, integrity and knowledge in key areas of structural engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice. Understand clients’ needs; identify and address design parameters and problems; develop and implement solutions. Under direct supervision, be involved with production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to the Drafting Department, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various 3rd-party submissions. Originate technical documentation, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy. Be aware of all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements. Be involved with meetings/correspondence with Clients, subcontractors, 3rd parties, etc. in a technical capacity. Assist more junior engineers/graduates as appropriate. Undertake analysis, design and engineering activities associated with platform and subsea structure construction, transportation, installation and in service. Provide structural stability and integrity calculations for steel frame structures, installation aids items for pipelines, spool pieces, tie ins, risers and umbilical installation. Design to resist forces for in-service, installation and transportation load conditions. Determine the size, shape, strength, and type of structural members. Perform seafastening design for jacket, topside, pipeline, spool pieces, tie ins, risers and umbilical transportation and vessel/barge deck strength check. Design and detailing in accordance with acknowledged industry Codes, Standards and Design Guides (e.g. API, DNV, AISC); Client Specifications and Scopes of Work. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Engineering Degree holder. May have some work experience related to structural engineering, civil engineering, marine engineering or hydrodynamic analysis. Advanced knowledge and experience of FEA software such as SACS, STAAD Pro, ANSYS, ABAQUS will get additional advantage. PERSONAL SKILLS Strong analytical skills. Creative problem solving - able to suggest and develop new methods and ways of working. Sound communication skills – able to communicate ideas and results to various stakeholders both in written reports and in meetings, presentations etc. The ability to work in a team as well as individually with a minimum of supervision. The ability to organize and prioritize own work and as such have responsibility for discrete work packages ongoing simultaneously.
