Job Description
Summary:

This position is a highly critical role that involves managing engineering projects; leading teams; and ensuring compliance to health, safety, and environmental regulations. You will be key to our growth as we anticipate significant demand for Company systems.

Ensure Company projects and systems are successful

You will lead and manage the engineering team as well as work with all other Company teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide design expertise in project development (communicate with regulatory authorities, review existing design standards/permit requirements, incorporate changes into project design drawings and cost models)
  • Review Requests for Proposals for treatment systems, and prepare technical responses as part of sales process
  • Review and approve Company system sizing in proposals that are submitted to potential clients
  • Provide process flow layout and integration of the Company system into prospective client's existing utility infrastructure
  • Review and approve design scope in contracts; edit contract language as needed to fit specific projects
  • You may be asked to perform site inspections and analyses of existing wastewater management equipment and processes and gather necessary information to pre-qualify projects.
  • Lead the engineering team in preparing, tracking and updating project budgets for engineering feasibility/LOI projects
  • Lead design efforts for full-scale design projects (design narrative, civil/hydraulic drawings, pump station design, Company containment design, irrigation system, earthwork/grading plans, process control narrative)
  • Be responsible for design decisions throughout a project (requesting/requiring additional client site investigation, coordination with additional project stakeholders)
  • Oversee and lead all projects from contract signature through startup. Prepare and monitor project budgets including both internal design and fabrication costs and project construction costs; provide cost analysis for projects.
  • Ensure the team develops and sends regular project status reports to both internal and external customers.
  • Oversee the team in responding to client, contractor, permit authority, and client's design professionals' questions for all projects during the design, permitting, and construction phase.
  • Understand and ensure that the team responds to questions regarding substitutions, changes to project specifications, and value engineering proposals by client & construction partners.
  • Ensure that the team prepares, coordinates, and communicates the system startup and commissioning schedule, including delivery of system O&M manuals, record drawings, review of installed equipment, field acceptance testing documentation, and initial client training on site operations.
  • Identify challenges during the design and construction phases and work with a team to proactively resolve issues.
  • Play a critical role within a variety of areas including customer service, project oversight, and industry development. This position will allow our teams to meet deadlines and constantly strive for improvement.
  • Develop and nurture good working relationships with contractors, suppliers and business partners.
  • Attend project meetings and communicate any delays or challenges to the Engineering team and recommend solutions where appropriate.
  • Cultivate trust and build collaborative relationships throughout the company and the industry. Help identify and manage regional resources that can aid in the permitting, construction, and operation of installed systems.
  • Regularly check in on team members and vendors to ensure projects are on time and within budget.
  • Understand team members' strengths and challenges and delegate tasks to the most appropriate individual.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor of Engineering (civil, agricultural construction management, or mechanical), and
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, construction, and customer relations. Or,
  • Experience with wastewater treatment operations to a degree sufficient to discuss Company system operating status, issues, and resolutions with customers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and timely with internal and external stakeholders.
  • To be a team player and value working with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • To be able to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Have strong organizational skills and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
  • Experience and commitment to site safety practices in wastewater operations.
  • Passion and interest in the dairy industry, climate change, water, healthy soils, and regenerative practices.
  • Ability to travel throughout California.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
