The Building Engineering Services Group (BES) provides mechanical, electrical, plumbing, site civil, structural, and specialty design services for a wide variety of buildings that include public, municipal, private, and Federal project types across the region and globally. Senior-Level Plumbing Engineer/Designer

to join our team. Primary Responsibilities In the role of Senior Plumbing Engineer/Designer, we'll count on you to: Manage the plumbing, medical gas, and laboratory gas portions of complex projects including hospitals, research facilities, data centers, and other facility types Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard and advanced engineering techniques and procedures to make decisions on a broad range of plumbing design issues Complete design of plumbing systems including domestic cold water, domestic hot water, sanitary drainage and vent systems, storm drainage systems, medical gas, laboratory gas, pumping systems, water treatment, reclaimed water, and natural gas distribution systems Take responsibility for all aspects of the work, including drawings and specifications, meeting schedules and budgets, and directing assigned staff Meet with clients and contractors Interpret engineering data for designers and drafters Check the drawings on a continuing basis to ensure accuracy and completeness and oversee deliverables to clients for quality control Mentor and develop the skills of designers and drafters Monitor the schedule and budgets for projects Perform field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects Review and summarize applicable codes and for inclusion in the project basis of design, drawings, and specifications Coordinate plumbing work with other disciplines and consultants Review shop drawings and answer requests for information Prepare periodic project status reports for review by the Project Manager and the Department Director Write project specifications as required for the plumbing scope of work Visit project sites as requested or as contractually required to monitor construction progress and resolve issues in the field Perform other duties as needed *LI-MP1 Qualifications

Required Qualifications A minimum of 10 years with experience in plumbing system design. This includes experience in code review and interpretation Thorough knowledge of applicable building and NFPA Codes pertaining to plumbing systems Excellent organizational and communication skills Take ownership of assignments and work both independently and as part of a large project team Strongly motivated, well organized, and showing professional initiative An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related engineering discipline preferred PE license preferred. Candidates hired without PE license will have a title of Senior Plumbing Designer CPD, GPD, LEED AP, and/or Medical Gas Designer Certification a plus Fire protection systems design experience including wet, dry, and specialty systems a plus Proficiency in Revit a plus Why HDR At HDR, we know work isn't only about who you work for it's also about what you do and how you do it.
