What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our accounting team. This role is ideal for someone early in their accounting career who is looking to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. The Junior Accountant will be responsible for handling cash applications, processing accounts payable, and assisting with general accounting tasks to ensure accurate financial reporting and smooth daily operations.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of accounting principles, possess excellent organizational skills, and be comfortable with multitasking and prioritizing work in a deadline-driven environment. Communication skills are key, as this role will involve frequent interaction with various departments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel, is essential to support reporting and data analysis needs. This position offers the opportunity to develop a solid foundation in accounting with opportunities for growth and advancement within the company.

What You Will Do
  • Process daily cash applications, ensuring all customer payments are accurately recorded and applied to appropriate accounts.
  • Review, verify, and process invoices for accounts payable, ensuring timely payment of vendor invoices and adherence to company policies.
  • Assist with preparing and processing journal entries for month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Assist in tracking and managing accounts payable by preparing aging reports and following up past due vendor invoices.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve any payment, billing, or financial discrepancies, providing clear and effective communication.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating accurate records of financial transactions, including filing invoices, receipts, and other relevant documentation.
  • Support audits by gathering documentation and information as required.
  • Maintain and update accounting software systems, ensuring data is current and accurate
  • Identify areas for process improvement in the accounting workflow and contribute ideas for increased efficiency.
  • Provide general administrative support to the accounting team as needed.

What You Will Need
  • 2-year Accounting degree preferred, but demonstrated experience with cash application and accounts payable will also be considered.
  • 1 to 2 years of prior accounting experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel, is required.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of accounting software is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management.
