Responsibilities:

Ideagen is on an exciting growth trajectory. This role will be part a new development team that will contribute significantly to this growth. As a member of this new team, you will be part of leading the development efforts for a suite of aligned products with complimentary development requirements. Your work will have positive impacts on Ideagen customers across the globe while advancing your engineering skills in a supportive environment

Develop and maintain a large, mature Ruby on Rails application
Contribute to the planning and delivery of this Ruby on Rails application and other software platforms used across multiple products
Collaborate with other engineers, product owners, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions
Write clean, maintainable, and efficient Ruby code
Develop and maintain complex, multi-schema PostgreSQL databases
Design, implement, and maintain GRPC and REST APIs
Write and maintain automated tests to ensure high software quality
Keep up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends

Skills and Experience:

2+ years of experience using Ruby on Rails in a business environment.
Strong experience using the PostgreSQL database.
Experience collaborating in a team environment.
Proficient knowledge of web application architecture.
Strong problem solver who has a passion for troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate also has:

Experience with developing and optimising customer-facing APIs.
Experience with newer API technologies, such as GraphQL and/or GRPC/Protobuf.
Experience using AWS cloud-computing components such as Lambda, API Gateway, etc.
Experience with different programming paradigms and design patterns.
Excellent time-management and organization skills.
A self-starter attitude and is a life-long learner.
