Job Summary: As a Setup Technician on the 2nd shift, you will play a crucial role in setting up and maintaining plastic injection molding equipment to meet production demands. This position combines technical expertise with hands-on troubleshooting in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Job Duties:

  • Setup and Optimization: Perform setup activities to ensure optimal performance of molding processes. Adjust settings, troubleshoot issues, and implement changes to improve product quality and efficiency.

  • Quality Assurance: Conduct visual inspections and monitor press cycle times to uphold quality standards. Document process changes and notify the quality department for verification as needed.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform startup operations on machinery and equipment (e.g., grinders, dryers) to ensure safe and efficient operation. Troubleshoot equipment/tooling and perform adjustments as necessary.

  • Technical Expertise: Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and work orders to determine setup requirements and production methods.

  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to 5S standards, maintain cleanliness in the work area, and follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures. Operate powered industrial equipment safely if required.

  • Documentation and Communication: Complete all necessary documentation accurately. Effectively communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in plastic injection molding setup and processing.
  • Technical degree or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience with powered industrial equipment and certification is a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide coaching and mentoring.

Competencies/ Skills:

  • Ability to interpret work instructions and follow directions effectively.
  • Intermediate communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects, with manual dexterity and stamina.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to troubleshooting.
