Housekeeping and Grounds Maintenance SupervisorPosition OverviewUnder direct supervision of the I.H.S. Housekeeping and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, the I.H.S. Housekeeper achieves and maintains predetermined standards of cleanliness and sanitation for all areas at the Pawnee Indian Health Center (PIHC).Essential FunctionsResponsible for the daily cleaning and disinfection of assigned areas at PIHC.Utilize approved chemicals, cleaning materials, equipment, etc. and follow appropriate disinfection techniques. Understand and comply with governmental requirements for the maintenance of safe and sanitary healthcare facilities, including Occupational Health & Safety Administration (OSHA), The Joint Commission (TJC), Infection Controls Guidelines from the Centers of Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).Attend training to enhance job performance and update current certifications.Responsible for the proper handling and clean-up of hazardous chemicals, blood, substances, devices, syringes, etc. Responsible for cleaning medical equipment and exam rooms, including tables, chairs, countertops, etc. Responsible for the daily care and treatment of facility floors, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and routine deep cleaning such as stripping, waxing, polishing, and shampooing carpets. Responsible for operating heavy floor machines, such as carpet shampooers, vacuum cleaners, hard floor cleaners, etc.Responsible for the care of windows, including dusting of the windowsills and cleaning of the windows.Responsible for cleaning restroom facilities, including toilet bowls, sinks, urinals, stall barriers, mirrors, countertops, etc. Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing of door handles, light switches, handrails, and other commonly touched areas.Maintain clean, organized storage area and closets for equipment, supplies, etc.Responsible for emptying office waste baskets, restroom trash, break room receptacles, etc.Responsible for stocking soap dispensers, toilet paper, paper towels, etc. Performs emergency cleaning duties, when necessary.Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information. Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.Performs other duties, as assigned and within the scope of the position. QualificationsEducationalRequirementsMinimum: High School Diploma or GED.Preferred: Associate Degree in Occupational Health or related field.Experience RequirementsMinimum: Six (6) months to one (1) year of janitorial or housekeeping experience. Preferred: Two (2) or more years of custodial experience.Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesComputer: Familiarity with Microsoft applications, including Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.Proficiency in the proper use of and operation of standard office equipment.Communication: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work EnvironmentWork is performed in a healthcare facility with a moderate noise level. Occasions may arise requiring work outdoors where there is exposure to natural weather conditions. Occasions may also arise requiring safety suits in order to clean and sanitize an infected exam room inside the facility; must also wear safety goggles, gloves, protective face shield. Evening and/or weekend work may be required.
