Transcribes proofreads, and edits complex technical and medical reports for a broad range of clinical specialties and departments to document patient care. Accountable for the accurate transcription of patient medical visits.
Responsible to Clinic Manager
Nature and Scope
Able to transcribe dictated reports and written drafts.
Responsible for typing all physician dictation: H&Ps, operative notes, therapeutic procedures, consultations, discharge summaries, etc.
Proofreads all transcribed documents for accuracy and completeness; verifies patient information for accuracy and completeness.
Transcribed documents are free of terminology, punctuation, grammatical, typographical errors and misinterpretations.
Assist physicians and nurse practitioners with examinations as necessary.Lift patients on and off exam tables and into and out of wheelchairs.
- Set up for procedures to be done, for example:removal of lesions, suturing of wounds, casting of fractures, dressing of burns, and assist with these procedures.
- Generally, keep examination rooms clean, neat, and organized.Keep supplies, equipment, and instruments in place and ready for use.
- Clean, sterilize, or sanitize all instruments.Makeup packs for doing excisions, suturing lacerations, and treating burns.Clean and disinfect.
- Order all medical supplies for patient care: dressings, cleansing solutions, drape sheets, table paper, splints, braces, cast materials, etc.
- Keep all supplies in stock, keep instruments and equipment up-to-date and in working order, and repair or replace as necessary.
- Order all topical, oral, or injectable medications for stock supplies and keep them updated.Keep emergency meds updated.Replace as used.
- Hand out educational materials when able and the situation warrants.
- Give out specific diets as ordered by the physician.
- Remain at the clinic, available to assist the physicians until all patients are cared for.
- Obtain UA's when ordered - do dip urine PRN.
