Senior staff level corporate accounting position in a large healthcare system setting.

- On a monthly, recurring basis, prepare and post journal entries - including, but not limited to, the areas of research, UH's academic affiliation, non-operating funds and other similar areas.

- Prepare the annual audited financial statements - specifically the footnotes, including areas that are more technical in nature. In addition, preparation of the benefit plan financial statements.

- GAAP analysis and technical investigation of accounting issues

- Prepare account reconciliations

- Help with analysis of certain budget variance and budget preparation

- Respond to audit requests

- Trains new hires in systems and methods

- Lead on projects within the department

- Represent department in meetings on various interdisciplinary topics

Qualifications:
Education.

- Bachelor's degree in accounting required

Certifications.

- CPA strongly preferred.

Experience & Knowledge:

o Five plus years accounting experience required

o Public accounting experience highly preferred.

o Health care accounting experience highly preferred

o Good understanding of GAAP, general ledger, health care accounting, and budget process required.

o Must be detail-oriented and organized, with good analytical and problem solving ability. Critical thinking is an important aspect of this role.

o Notable client service, communication, presentation and relationship building skills required.

o Ability to function independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment required.

o Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge:

o Demonstrated strong ability to use PCs and general office equipment (i.e., printers, copy machine, etc.) required.

o Very strong skills pertaining to Microsoft products - particularly Excel. Must know pivot tables, vlookups, etc.

o Oracle experience preferred.

o EPIC experience preferred.
