ScholarMade is dedicated to recruiting highly qualified and dynamic candidates for leadership roles and school-based administrator positions. The Application Pool for School Administrators opens in the Fall with consideration beginning in January.

Here are the core responsibilities for these roles:

Student Achievement and Success

  • Achieve targets for overall school achievement and academic progress for all students.
  • Monitor and analyze student performance across academic areas, including specialized instruction and English Language Learning, aligning with ScholarMade's vision and mission.
  • Serve as the school testing coordinator.
  • Provide social-emotional support to meet students' needs.
  • May teach courses as required.
School Leadership
  • Act as a visible leader of the school, facilitating communication with parents/caregivers, students, staff, and the community, and participating in school events when necessary.
  • Oversee the standards, policies, and protocols outlined in the Student Handbook to ensure compliance by students, families, and teachers, as needed.
  • Monitor student enrollment and implement student retention and recruitment plans.
  • Ensure adherence to the standards, policies, and protocols defined in the Personnel Handbook by staff, as needed.
  • Maintain open communication and engagement with support staff as appropriate.
  • Drive instructional excellence and support teacher improvement in meeting performance goals.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the school's instructional improvement plan.
  • Assist in fostering a culture of excellence among school staff in areas such as culture, assessment, data analysis, instructional planning, instructional delivery, and curriculum utilization to enhance teacher proficiency.
  • Assist in monitoring transportation, meals, and facilities.
  • Supervise extracurricular activities.
Teacher and Staff Development
  • Manage personnel management and development with a focus on supporting staff to enhance student success and performance.
  • Supervise school personnel across all aspects of their work and evaluations.
  • Oversee the implementation of supports and interventions specified in Performance Growth Plans.
  • Regularly review and compile evidence from teacher performance evaluations, conducting observations, individual, and group meetings.
  • Manage and supervise school staff, including but not limited to teacher selection, retention, and, if necessary, non-renewal.
  • Develop and lead in-service professional development training.
  • Fulfill duties both inside and outside the classroom as required.

Skills & Requirements
Ideal candidates for these positions should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

Qualifications:
  • Education: A Master's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • License: Certification as a school administrator in Arkansas or eligibility for certification.
  • Minimum of four years of teaching, administrative/supervisory experience, including experience in school-based administration.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to model shared leadership, experience in leading a professional learning community, and the ability to inspire a team around a progressive vision.
  • Experience working in underserved urban communities.
  • Familiarity with inquiry-based and project-based interdisciplinary learning models, especially Personalized Learning.
  • Profound understanding of curriculum design and implementation, active pedagogy, and whole child development.
  • Strong commitment to the belief that all children can achieve success in standard academic measures, character development, and the quality of their academic work.
  • Evidence of past success in positively impacting student achievement.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, organized, and sometimes unpredictable start-up environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional ability to build relationships with a diverse group of constituents.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer skills, including Excel, scheduling software, and survey tools.
  • Experience in school-based budget preparation and management.
  • Experience with actively involving parents and the community in all phases of the school program.
