By blending people-centric leadership with disciplined operational strategies and purpose-driven growth, Barry-Wehmiller has become a $3 billion organization with nearly 12,000 team members united by a common belief: to use the power of business to build a better world.Job Description:As a Machinist Helper, you will perform all task generally assigned to support team machine shop members. to include but not limited to; the emptying of garbage, chips, coolant, swarf and maintaining the fifty-five-gallon barrel racks throughout the machine shop.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The ability to empty barrels/containment of garbage, chips, coolant, and swarf.Operate materials handling equipment such as forklift, pallet jacks, ladders, hand trucks, overhead cranes, or dollies to move stock or organize storage.Move materials, parts and castings as required.Assist operators with the clean-up associated with the set-up and tear-down of jigs, fixtures, etc.Must provide sufficient basic hand tools to properly perform the duties of this position.Exercise care in preventative maintenance on tools or equipment as assigned as part of the positions responsibilities.Attending team meetings; may provide input on quality, cost, or production issues.Communicate effectively and interact with other team members.Attend work regularly at the worksite and on any assigned shift or work schedule is required for this position, as is the ability to work overtime.Maintain equipment and work area in clean and orderly fashion.Work in accordance with established safety proceduresOther duties as assigned.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Forklift CertificationHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent.6+ months of experience working in a manufacturing environment.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:1+ years of experience working with Microsoft Programs and data entry.COMPETENCES: Customer Focus - Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions.Instills Trust - Gaining the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity.Drives Results - Consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances.Communicates Effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.Optimizes Work Processes - Knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:This position does not directly lead other team members.WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift 30 pounds, bend, stoop, kneel, stand, and walk for 8+ hours without assistance.Bend, squat, climb, grasp, reach, lift or otherwise move about frequently and for extended periods of time.Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs. frequently, or more occasionally.Walk, stand or otherwise move about continuously.This job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by team members within this classification.It's not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills, and is subject to change at any time.At Barry-Wehmiller we recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job.
