Palm Beach County underground utility industry leader has a great career opportunity for a CONSTRUCTION SHOP MANAGER.

The shop manager is responsible for overseeing the operations and administration of a construction shop.

The ideal candidate will ensure the efficient functioning of the shop, the safety of its operations, and the quality of its output, while having excellent people management skills, a good understanding of heavy equipment and business operations.

Responsibilities Include:

Operations Management:

  • day-to-day shop operations, ensuring all activities are performed efficiently and effectively.
  • inventory, including ordering supplies, tracking stock levels, and ensuring timely replenishment.
  • and scheduling maintenance and repairs of equipment and tools.

Staff Management:

  • supervising shop personnel.
  • monitoring the tasks performance of shop staff.
  • compliance with safety regulations and promoting a safe working environment.

Quality Control:

  • finished products and ongoing work to ensure quality standards are met.
  • quality control processes and procedures to minimize errors and defects.
  • resolving any quality issues that arise.

Budget and Financial Management:

  • managing the shop's budget, including forecasting expenses and revenues.
  • controlling costs to stay within budget constraints.
  • working with suppliers to obtain the best prices for materials and equipment.

Customer Relations:

  • with clients to understand their needs and requirements.
  • estimates, quotes, and timelines for projects.
  • customer satisfaction through timely and quality service delivery.

Compliance and Safety:

  • all shop activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • and enforcing safety protocols and procedures.
  • regular safety audits and inspections.

Strategic Planning:

  • and implementing strategies to improve shop operations and increase productivity.
  • updated with industry trends and advancements in construction technology.
  • for future shop needs, including equipment upgrades and staff training.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • accurate records of inventory, expenses, and personnel.
  • regular reports on shop activities, performance metrics, and financial status.
  • documentation up-to-date and accessible for audits and inspections.

Problem Solving:

  • any operational issues or conflicts that arise within the shop.
  • solutions to improve efficiency and resolve any disruptions in workflow.
  • as a point of contact for emergency situations and coordinating responses.

Preferred Experience and Education:

Degree in business administration or a related field preferred.

At least five years experience in a management of heavy equipment repair shop.

Strong leadership and management skills.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

Basic knowledge of accounting, computers, and software.

Strong customer focus and decision-making skills.

Familiar underground construction a plus.
