Position: Robotics Specialist

Location: On-site in Fremont, CA

Duration: 2+ year contract, plus extensions

Insight Global oversees a program with this client that is dedicated to AI discovery that will further technological advancements across the organization. This team focuses on the science and engineering of intelligent machines with a physical or virtual embodiment. Using robotic systems, this team will work to develop physical and virtual systems to collect data for AI model building, demonstrate capabilities, and develop and test scenarios for sim2real research efforts, to adapt skills and intelligence from simulation to real systems.

Position Summary

The Robotics Specialist is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing robotic experiments. They will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design, test, and deploy robotics solutions in real-world applications.

Responsibilities

  • Assembly of robot experiments on physical robots.
  • Run robot experiments in physical environments and robots.
  • Assembly of research hardware, debugging, and troubleshooting across sites.
  • Embedded software development and cross functional collaboration with main software stack.
  • Lab tools order and setup.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, presenting software designs and updates.

Basic Requirements

  • Proficient in hardware design, troubleshooting, and debugging
  • Design: Altium Designer, Eagle, KiCad, Cadence
  • Reading schematics, PCB layout
  • Troubleshooting: Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers
  • Knowledge of robot hardware, sensors, and actuators.
  • Mechanical: MCAD/ECAD design and working cross functionally with mechanical engineers
  • Systems: USB, MIPI, High Speed Design, Multi-Layer PCB Design
  • Familiar with C / Python / C++
  • Embedded Platforms: STM32, Microchip, Arduino
  • Embedded Systems: SPI, I2C, I2S, DMA, USB, FreeRTOS
  • Familiarity with modern version control tools, especially git.
  • Linux installation and usage.
  • Good communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Proficient in ROS (both ROS1 and ROS2) and familiar with its ecosystem and tools.
  • Experience training and deploying deep learning models
  • Familiar with Github workflow
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for robotics.

Compensation:

$40/hr to $45/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
