The Engineering Manager is responsible for the leadership of the Project Engineeringteam to do system design, integration, testing and commissioning to meet project deliverydeadlines.Responsible for building and guiding the project engineering team. Focus on creating anenvironment that encourages teamwork, cross-functional collaboration, innovation and thesuccessful accomplishment of goals. Ensuring the team understands the vision for the team andthe impact their work has on IRD and the value they add to our customers and communities.
Leadership
Provide leadership, supervision, technical guidance and mentoring for theProject Engineering team as they follow the project design and deploymentprocess.
Responsible for scheduling, prioritization and resource management asrequired to meet project delivery deadlines.
Responsible for full scale people management recruitment, onboarding,performance management reviewing and approving timesheets, vacationrequests and sick leave.
Participate in business planning and strategy planning for the department.
Customer and Industry Relationships

Ensure that the Project Engineering team provides site installation supportas well as support for the development and delivery of training materialsfor internal and external customers as required.
Solution Development

Participate in the development of product requirements
Innovation and Continuous Improvement

Organize and participate in system design reviews considering riskassessment and mitigation, quality assessment and improvements.
Participate in the development and improvement of processes used withinProject Engineering and contribute to the development of corporateprocesses impacting the project team.
Metrics

Ensure that schedules are being updated and information regarding projectstatus is being communicated with Project Management, Production andother groups within Engineering as required.
Budget

Prepare estimates for the development of new designs and features.
Prepare, review and update department budget.
Prepare preliminary design and background for support of proposals
Other

Maintain a knowledge and understanding of, and operate in accordancewith, IRDs Safety Manual.
Adhere to IRD working instructions and procedures. Occasional travel to customer locations and field test sites.
Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education
Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
Related Experience

5+ years increasingly Responsible Engineering Experience
Other Requirements

P. Eng. designation is desired but not required for this position.
2 years supervisory experience
