Medicaid Data Scientist

The selected candidate must be experienced in data science methods, with preference given to experience with Python
Experience with generative AI, natural language processing (NLP), and/or machine learning methods, including random forests and neural nets
Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and version control (git) software
Strong writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
PhD in Health Informatics or similar degree with 0 years experience, or Masters + 3 years experience or Bachelors + 5 years experience, OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
Must have a current CMS PIV card or the ability to successfully obtain one
Experience working with healthcare claims data, EHR data, or Medicaid data
Preference given to those with experience with cloud computing services (e.g., AWS, Azure)
Preference given to those with data engineering or software development experience
Preference given to those with business development, government, or public sector experience
Responsibilities
The Medicaid Data Scientist works with internal colleagues and external clients to answer complex technical questions
They will perform data cleaning and data pipeline engineering, analyze textual and numerical data, and may utilize various tools in Azure and AWS cloud environments to deploy generative AI, natural language processing, and machine learning workflows
This specialized Medicaid position will work in the CMS data ecosystem, with much analysis occurring in CMS Cloud and DataConnect
The successful hire will be able to perform the following functions and have the following mix of experience and skills:
Manage projects and processes, including interfacing with clients and coaching junior team members
Lead tasks, including organizing work plans and delegating work, with minimal supervision
Develop technical solutions to complex problems through ingenuity and innovation
Collect data from various sources, e.g., webscraping and APIs and perform data management tasks
Support data modernization efforts and develop/improve automated data ingestion processes

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $91,408 to $146,254 and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location
