You will develop and implement optimal, cost-effective processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. You will consistently recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods, and controls. AllisonKey Responsibilities:Lead a team of 4+ Quality and Manufacturing Engineers.Train, develop, and manage performance of direct reports within department.Champion the use of continuous improvement tools to reduce downtime, improve quality, reduce scrap, and achieve labor efficiency targets.Implements key performance indicators to track progress against plant targets. Create action plans to address top issues and prevent reoccurrence.Interface with internal and external personnel, customers, and suppliers helping lead external containment and customer responses. Lead plant 8D corrective actions by assigning and helping guide structured problem solvingManage the continuous improvement efforts, Quality System and process execution, manufacturing engineering key day to day functions.Develop and manage departmental operating budgets including monthly and yearly operating budgets as well as Capex budget creation and execution.Regularly presents to Senior Leadership over plant quality performance.Uphold and support Allison, ISO 9001, and IATF 16949 Quality Systems.Support and guide development of new part/product designs and manufacturing processes, as they relate to central manufacturing engineering.Improve plant Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by optimizing quality and availability %'s.Implement Operational Excellence (OE) principles being led by pillar teams.Key Performance Measures:SafetyQualityCostResponsivenessProductivityCompetencies and Behaviors:Required:Ability to influence others and lead change initiatives.Ability to lead and motivate team members with a positive approach to achieve targets and deliver results.Strong understanding of and ability to apply problem-solving tools such as 8D PDCA's, 5 WhyUnderstanding of internal and external audit processes (IATF 16949, ISO 9001)Knowledge of Operational Excellence and lean manufacturing principles.Creative problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindsetComfortable providing feedback to direct reports and peers.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to peers and leadershipComfortable with addressing and resolving conflict to find solutions as a teamProficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Quality systems and engineered quality processesQualifications:Required:Bachelors degree in Engineering or related fieldPreferred:Masters degree in Engineering or related fieldSix Sigma and/or ASQ certificationExperience:Required:5+ years' experience in leadership role10+ years' experience in Quality Engineer/Manufacturing Engineer role, ideally in manufacturing environmentParticipation/lead in IATF auditsPreferred:10+ years' in manufacturing environment.Scope Factors:Second Level Manager: Experienced manager with focus on managing the operations of a department, work unit, brand, and contributing to planning for the function or business unit.Manages lower-level supervisors, managers, or team of professional/technical employees.Occasionally interacts with senior leadership team. Frequently interacts with peers of the same level or lower.
