responsibilities:

  • Define schemas and data models for scientific information to create value-adding data products.

  • Ensure quality control through validation and verification of mapping specifications to be industrialized by data engineering.

  • Convert business needs into deliverable requirements for integrating large-scale biological data to support drug and vaccine discovery.

  • Collaborate with external groups to align company data standards with industry and academic ontologies.

  • Support effective data ingestion by articulating entry requirements for platform engineering teams and ensuring metadata compliance.

  • Provide subject matter expertise for translating deep scientific concepts into actionable data insights.
Skills:

  • Working experience querying relational databases (SQL).

  • Familiarity with data management/metadata platforms (e.g., Collibra, Datahub, Informatica).

  • Experience in data modeling, quality analysis, and profiling (working with tools like SAS, Ataccama, Informatica Data Quality).

  • Experience with data protocol tools (e.g., Avro, Protocol Buffers).

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python) for scripting and modeling.

  • Awareness of RDF, ontology, and reference data.

  • Experience with open-source ontology tools (e.g., Protg, SPARQL, OWL).

  • Specific experience with Knowledge Graph efforts and taxonomy tools.
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Biomedical Science, Biomedical Engineering, Molecular Biology, or Computer Science.

  • Relevant biologist work experience.

  • 5-8 years of job-related experience with a proven track record.
