A Project Manager is a professional responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects. The specific job description may vary depending on the industry and organization, but generally, a Project Manager performs the following key duties: Project Planning:

Develop a comprehensive project plan outlining scope, objectives, timelines, budget, resources, and risks. Define project tasks, milestones, and deliverables. Create and maintain project documentation.

Team Leadership:

Assemble and lead a project team, ensuring the right people with the necessary skills are assigned to the project. Foster collaboration and effective communication within the team. Provide guidance and motivation to keep the team focused on project goals.

Risk Management:

Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Monitor and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle. Implement contingency plans as needed.

Budget Management:

Develop and manage the project budget. Monitor expenditures and ensure the project stays within budget constraints. Provide regular financial reports to stakeholders.

Timeline Management:

Develop and maintain project schedules. Track progress and ensure project milestones are met. Adjust timelines and resources as needed to keep the project on track.

Stakeholder Communication:

Communicate with stakeholders to understand project requirements and expectations. Provide regular updates on project progress, risks, and issues. Address stakeholder concerns and ensure their satisfaction with project outcomes.

Quality Control:

Establish and enforce project quality standards. Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure deliverables meet specified criteria.

Problem Solving:

Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team. Develop creative solutions to overcome obstacles and achieve project goals.

Project Closure:

Ensure all project deliverables are completed and meet quality standards. Conduct a project evaluation to assess what went well and areas for improvement. Close out the project, documenting lessons learned and sharing insights with the team and stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement:

Implement improvements based on lessons learned from previous projects. Stay informed about industry best practices and incorporate them into project management processes.

In addition to these responsibilities, the specific skills and qualifications required for a Project Manager may include project management certifications (such as PMP), excellent communication skills, leadership abilities, and a strong understanding of the industry in which they are working. The ability to adapt to changing circumstances and manage multiple priorities is also crucial for success in this role.

Requirements 2+ Years project management or coordination experience with a general contractor, equipment manufacturer or equipment distributor. 4-year degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Construction Management preferred. Knowledge of rotating equipment (pumps and motors); Familiarity with municipal Water / Wastewater equipment, processes, and technology helpful. Able to reference, read and interpret detailed engineered specifications and plans including P&ID (piping and instrumentation drawings). Highly organized and efficient; Skilled at multitasking and able to effectively manage numerous orders / projects simultaneously.

Other Skills/Abilities

Ability to create and modify CAD drawing using AutoCad and/or similar. Frequent communication and negotiation with equipment suppliers and contractors Frequent overnight and air travel required (50-60%). Fluent with Office 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, TEAMS, Projects / Planner, etc.
