I'm assisting a well-funded startup that has created effective workflow management software used by government entities nationwide with their search for founding engineers. They are looking to hire, frontend, backend and fullstack developers. These hires will join a team of 7 (only 1 engineer) and help continue to optimize and scale the product. The role will be hybrid (3-4 days per week in office) in their NYC office.

Tech Stack:

RedwoodJS is their fullstack framework

The front-end is written in React and TypeScript

The back-end is written in TypeScript with NodeJS

They use GraphQL to communicate between front-end and back-end

What you'll do:

  • Build a workflow management system that is powerful and easy to use, but flexible enough to accommodate the unique processes of 80,000+ government agencies in the United States (think: Salesforce for governments). Today the product is used to process permit and license applications for everything from new affordable housing developments to small business licenses.
  • Enable a Figma-style document review experience that helps governments easily collaborate to review, mark up, and approve technical documents such as building and development plans.
  • Develop a flexible and powerful document generation system to automatically generate official documents including permits and licenses for thousands of unique processes
  • Create a payments experience that makes it easy for citizens to pay billions in annual permit/license fees, property taxes, and utility bills online.


What you'll bring:
  • 4+ years experience, preferably with some startup experience
  • For frontend roles:
    • You've built a frontend system from scratch, knowing the intimate details of how data flows to/from every section of the system.
    • You are a frontend engineer who loves building products that real people use every day
  • For backend roles:
    • You have extensive experience implementing backend features. Some examples might include:
      • You have extensive experience in implementing intricate business logic in backend systems.
      • You've successfully tackled technical debt by refactoring code, optimizing database queries for performance gains, or implementing automated testing frameworks to improve code reliability
      • You've integrated backend systems with various third-party services and APIs to enable seamless data exchange and functionality enhancement.
      • You've played a pivotal role in enhancing the scalability and performance of backend systems.
  • For fullstack roles:
    • You have extensive experience owning features end-to-end. You love to take Figma designs and make modifications to the database setup, backend code, and frontend code to make those designs come to life.
