Summary
The accountant II position will report to the Senior Plant Manager for TB Wood’s. This role will involve preparing monthly and quarterly journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations. This is a position with the ability to learn and gain experience in the business with potential to expand into additional roles and/or responsibilities.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Prepares and compiles data for income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and various other accounting statements and reports for a manufacturing plant.
Maintains, reviews, and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records to support the company’s timely close process.
Prepares monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
Assists in performing cost accounting activities including sales margin analysis, material variance analysis, inventory analysis, annual standard cost roll and annual physical inventory, etc.
Performs tasks in accordance with statutory regulations and corporate accounting standards/policies.
Organizes accounting activities for best efficiency of completing all requirements.
Assists with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
Provides support to other functional teams in the plant or business unit.
Ownership of capital asset acquisition cost tracking and capitalization of assets upon completion for approved projects.
Provide product costing support and analysis, to include preparation of the annual standard cost roll for approval.
Support annual physical inventory counts and cycle count reporting and analysis.
Provide data and support for SOX reporting and audit requirements.
Maintain adequacy of internal control structure to ensure Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
Support the budget and forecasting processes.
Proactively identify improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Other ad hoc duties and analysis as assigned by finance leadership.
Critical Competencies
Knowledge of GAAP
Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Strong manufacturing / managerial accounting skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong analytical, problem solving, and financial system knowledge.
Ability to interact with employees at various levels & skill sets.
Ability to collaborate among decentralized teams.
Ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple projects and/or requests concurrently.
Education And Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
2+ years of relevant experience
Experience working for a company in the Manufacturing sector
Physical Demand and Work Environment:
Work environment includes regular exposure to noise levels at or above 85 decibels, dust particles, and constant exposure to variable temperatures heat. Work performed in both warehouse and office settings. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required to be worn during shift.
Physical requirements include lifting up to 50lbs, standing for long periods of time, good hand and finger dexterity, and ability to bend, twist, reach and walk.
