Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Job Summary

As a Utilities Plumber Helper, you are responsible for assisting the Plumber with running new water waste lines to existing buildings and tying in from city taps.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with utility work including shoveling
  • Assist with water line installation
  • Assist with sewer line installation
  • Assist with backflow preventer installations
  • Creating and delivering materials for job
  • Assist the Service Plumber with interpreting the blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials in residential buildings.
  • Assist the Plumber with Installing supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation
  • Learn to assemble fittings and valves for installation and modify the lengths of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials.
  • Assist the service plumber to collaborate with other construction workers, such as contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing
  • Learn to perform tests, analysis, and inspections of plumbing systems to identify problems and replacing worn parts.
  • Assist with maintaining good working order of Company vehicle. Includes: refueling and servicing as necessary, reporting mechanical issues, washing, and cleaning the Company vehicle on a regular basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Work Days
  • Normal work schedule is Monday through Friday but must have the flexibility to work weekends, holidays and afterhours, when required.
  • Willing to work overtime, when the situation arises.
Qualifications/ Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work well with co-workers
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, twist, and bend for extended periods of time.
  • Lift and carry material weighing up to 75 lbs; occasionally lifting items weighing more than 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to climb and utilize a ladder safely.
  • Good physical fitness; hand-eye coordination and ability to quickly respond to sounds.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, including outdoors in times of excessive heat and inclement weather.
