As a Dosimetrist, you will play a critical role in the radiation therapy treatment process by designing, calculating, and verifying the radiation dose distribution for cancer patients. You will work closely with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and radiation therapists to ensure accurate and effective delivery of radiation therapy, tailored to the unique needs of each patient. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment, utilize advanced dosimetric techniques, and make a significant impact on the quality of care provided to cancer patients.Responsibilities:Collaborate with radiation oncologists to develop individualized radiation treatment plans for cancer patients, taking into consideration tumor location, size, shape, and proximity to critical structures, to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes.Perform accurate calculations of radiation doses, using advanced treatment planning software and techniques, to ensure that prescribed doses are delivered to the targeted tumor while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissues and organs.Design and generate 3D and 4D treatment plans for external beam radiation therapy, intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), brachytherapy, and other specialized radiation therapy techniques.Collaborate with medical physicists to perform quality assurance checks on treatment plans, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols, and making necessary adjustments based on patient-specific factors.Provide guidance and support to radiation therapists during the treatment delivery process, including verifying treatment setups, assisting with patient positioning, and ensuring that treatment plans are implemented accurately.Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of treatment plans, dose calculations, and quality assurance procedures in the electronic medical record (EMR) system, in compliance with regulatory requirements and practice policies.Participate in the development and implementation of new treatment planning techniques, protocols, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance the safety, accuracy, and effectiveness of radiation therapy services.Stay current with advancements in dosimetry, radiation therapy technology, and cancer treatment modalities, ensuring the application of best practices and the use of cutting-edge tools and techniques in treatment planning.Educate patients and their families about the radiation treatment process, addressing any questions or concerns, and providing support throughout the treatment journey.
