Job Description

APPLIKATE TECHNOLOGIES INC. www.applikate.com Job Posting: Senior Mechanical Engineer, Medical Devices Link to job posting: Location: Fairfield CT area (U.S.) Contact: David Hunt

(david.hunt@applikate.com) Applikate Technologies is a forward-thinking team of medical experts and engineers building hardware and software that transforms the diagnosis of human tissue (pathology). We have developed a multi-element platform technology that will do for pathology what the digital camera did for photography, eliminating manually intensive sample processing, automating throughput, and implementing direct-to-digital imaging for more accurate diagnoses while lowering costs and speeding time-to-treatment. Our platform includes reagents, injection-molded consumables, a fully automated laser scanning microscope, and cloud-based viewing software. We have a fast-paced collaborative culture focused on producing new technology that solves real problems in medicine.

Every one of us is an integral part of our mission and we work together to meet our ambitious goals. We seek individuals who enjoy a challenge and are ready to roll their sleeves up and get to work.

They should not be afraid to ask for help and should enjoy learning new things, even if it is just a new way to complete a familiar task.

They should stay focused on the goal but be flexible to adapt to changes in plans.

They should work well independently, collaboratively, and effectively manage the team’s deadlines and goals, including working well as part of a local and virtual team, seeking to stay connected with colleagues daily.

The role... This is an opportunity to join a small, collaborative, and dynamic team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer focused on medical devices. The candidate will contribute to product enhancements and modifications to current designs and initiate development of new platform elements to expand platform capabilities. They will drive key activities transitioning current designs to scalable manufacturing with augmented capabilities, and facilitate the deliverables to support regulatory filing, product launch, and post market surveillance.

The successful candidate will be well-versed with the product development process and will work on a small team to develop and drive the technology through its lifecycle, including FDA approval, pre-production, commercial productization, volume ramp, continuous process improvement, and post-market assessment. Prior experience with medical device development, manufacturing, and testing is highly desirable. Specific experience with motion control, strong programming skills, and facility with instrument CAD design are critical. Experience with optical/microscopy systems is a plus, as is experience working in start-ups/ early-stage companies. Requirements: ·

Relevant experience in medical device design and development. ·

Experience and proficiency with stage motion control. ·

Strong computing skills. ·

Proficiency in SolidWorks. ·

A willingness and ability to wear multiple hats, operate independently, and as part of a team in a small organization setting where a self-starter personality is key. ·

U.S. citizenship, U.S, permanent residency, or a valid U.S. work visa. ·

Optional Practical Training (OPT) will be considered. ·

Must commute to the Fairfield office, hybrid work possible. Relocation assistance not provided - the office is a short walk from the Fairfield, CT train station with easy access to/from New York City and New Haven. Preferred ·

Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctoral) in Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Physics, or similar. ·

Experience bringing medical devices through all stages of development, including design-for-manufacture, product launch, and post-market surveillance. ·

Knowledge of the regulatory and compliance requirements of device design controls, risk management, human factors.

Compensation and Benefits ·

Salary $120K - $160K, commensurate with experience. ·

Stock Awards pending performance. ·

20 Days of Paid Time Off ·

Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance – 50% Employer-Paid Premium for Employee Base Health Plan ·

11 Paid Holidays ·
