Responsibilities:

New York Institute of Technology's -deSeversky Mansion seeks a part-time Bartender to offer exceptional service to all our guests and ensure they have a great experience when dining at the mansion.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Ensure proper pouring of drinks, wine, etc. to specific standardized pours and that all guests are not over served.
  • Cut off guests from alcoholic consumption when appropriate and report to supervisor immediately
  • Assist with wine service during dinner as needed.
  • Prepare beverage service points utilizing floor plans, BEOs, timelines and work plans issued. This includes the physical movement of tables, ice bins, beverage carts and equipment, additional furniture, linens and other necessary supplies.
  • Maintain open communication with service staff and management/sales team during events.
  • Monitor and maintain flow of the bars through proper preparation, organization, and expedient service.
  • Manage inventory and stocked items needed for bar and cut, maintain and store all garnishes.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of all equipment that pertains to the service areas such as glassware and bar equipment through Standard Operating Procedures and training.
  • Communicate departmental needs, items for repair, and guests complaints to dining room manager.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of service and bar work areas.
  • Assist in dining room as needed and instructed by dining room manager.
  • Ensure that all opening/closing procedures and checklists are being followed.
  • Attend all training and development programs as scheduled.
  • Must be able to work in other areas on campus as needed, such as all campus cafes, kiosks, food trucks and any/all special events on or off campus.
  • Must be able to work in other positions, such as utility, attendant/cashier, server, as needed should employees in those positions not be able to work due to vacation, sick or personal time.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights and holidays, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Educational Requirements: (High School or Equivalent), or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

Training for Intervention Procedures (TIPS) certification required.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Advanced computer skills.

Ability to perform basic mathematics including: adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.

Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and 9 hour shifts as business dictates.

Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND STRESS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for extended periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.

Minimum Salary:
USD $18.00/Hr.

Maximum Salary:
USD $24.00/Hr.
