POSITION: Senior Mechanical Engineer

LOCATION: Springfield, MO

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 10+ Years

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position applies mechanical engineering design knowledge and the ability to create final construction drawings for the owner and supports the owner throughout the entire construction process. Also serves as a mentor to less experienced mechanical engineers and CAD drafters.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Accurately and timely produces engineering design elements consistent with project specifications

Accurately and timely produces design elements and troubleshoots flaws in accordance with the project hours, scope, and parameters

Produces engineering construction documents appropriate for permitting based on project specifics

Provides complete management of project timelines and related design activity communication between the design team and the client accurately and timely

In accordance with company standards, provides assistance in the preparation of accurate and complete proposals and engineering agreements

Provide project coordination with in-house and outside sources

Provides timely consultation on projects to manage schedules, deadlines, site surveys, punch lists, building codes, and standards consistent with company quality standards

Accurately and consistently execute QA/QC process

Produces accurate and complete engineering project specifications within project parameters

Provide timely billing of projects to the accounting department

Selects appropriate equipment for project type

Produces accurate and complete load calculations and engineering project specifications within project parameters

Actively participates in post-design activities and represents the company in client meetings, through construction completion

Ensures the quality of engineering design is consistent with established quality standards

Actively mentors junior engineers and designers

Assists in the preparation of other documents germane to a project with enthusiasm and professionalism

Follows established work rules, policies, and procedures

Actively engages with other members of the company to continuously strive to improve processes, create efficiencies and reduce costs

Cooperatively takes on other duties, roles, or responsibilities as assigned

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Other general office processes and procedures and project activities

Actively participate in a company committee

REQUIREMENTS

Expert knowledge of building codes and standards

Knowledge of mechanical engineering standards and other trades

Strong project management skills

4-year degree in engineering required, EIT and/or PE preferred

Minimum of 10 years experience in mechanical engineering

Demonstrable understanding of the construction process and interpretation of construction drawings

Knowledge of AutoCAD

Knowledge of Revit preferred

Excellent communication skills
