Through continued modernization, including a $500 million investment over the past decade alone, Davenport has maintained its position as the world's premier aerospace and automotive supply plant.We have an immediate opening for a Thermal and Combustion Engineer. Will provide combustion engineering services to the Ingot Department to safely meet the company's business plan by providing support to production, maintenance, and engineering. In this role, you will serve as a critical team member in the efficiency, output, and quality of our processes and will be responsible for combustion systems safely integrated with manufacturing, along with upgrades of existing equipment.The Thermal and Combustion Engineer will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following job duties: Coordinate all phases of assigned area thermal engineering projects from concept, scope development, written specifications, bid solicitations, design, manufacturing, installation, equipment commissioning, and project closureMaintain a working relationship with vendors and current contractors of thermal and combustion equipment and be knowledgeable of external developmentsLead and participate in problem solving efforts with multi-discipline technical staff, maintenance and production. Drive resolution of chronic problems within area of expertise & organize support from other resources when necessary.Use PI Vision and Data Link to analyze process issues and provide input to solve problemsCreate and develop combustion control solutions that will support process improvements and improve equipment reliabilityAssist production and maintenance with equipment and process issuesPLC/HMI and controls redesign and upgrades of existing processesMay mentor employees to increase their knowledge of equipment and processWhile this position is a primarily day-shift position, off-hours support will be required as needed.Participate in technical assessments of equipmentOptimization of process equipmentProvide equipment, control, and process training to the technical base.Develop and deploy standard practicesProvide engineering and operational support for large capital improvement projectsSponsor, participate, and occasionally lead development projectsBe relied upon by plant resources for advice and direction on capital and process solutionsAbility to navigate Rockwell PLC's for troubleshooting a plusQualificationsBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering , Electrical and Computer Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with PLC experience (at time of employment)Minimum 1 internship, co-op or other applicable work experience (co-op, internships can be included)Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or RefugeePreferred Qualifications:Experience with combustion systems (maintenance) a plus.3 years' experience with PLC's, HMI's, AC/DC drives & motors and measuring instrumentsProficiency with Rockwell programming software (i.e.: RS Logix and FactoryView)3 years or more of experience in leading electrical projectsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Project programs IDEAL CANDIDATESomeone with Combustion and PLC experience
