ITSD is looking for a Data Engineer to join the team. You will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up.

This position will support all agencies in refining their data culture to be able to make data-informed decisions we help them build out our Data Lakes. We will encourage data security, data validation, machine learning processes, predictive analytics, and becoming more transparent for both internal and external stakeholders.

This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD).

Create and maintain optimal data pipelines, in Azure and AWS. Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements. Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc. Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics. Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data, and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs. Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our data for predictive analytics. Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems. Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and datasets in Azure and AWS. Proficiency in Azure and AWS Data Lake tools Experience with data warehouses and data lakes, writing queries, developing reports and presentations, and using SQL. Knowledge of R or Python and building data models. Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets. Ability to test the data from source to the presentation layer. Ability to support/troubleshoot data pipelines. Confident and concise communication skills, with the ability to drive alignment, collaboration, and efficiency within teams. Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.

Knowledge of data modeling and design. Ability to think methodically and critically. Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve database performance issues. Ability to organize work assignments and multi-task.
