Job Summary: The Nurse Manager, Recovery Room, provides administrative, human resource, and financial management for designated cost centers that provide direct and indirect patient care for an age-specific population needing Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Services. Ensures areas of responsibility comply with requirements of planning, regulatory, inspecting agencies, and Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) policies, e.g., Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoP), Department of Health Services (DHS), and Joint Commission Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN). Develops, implements, and maintains unit and department-specific performance improvement and patient safety program utilizing tools such as the Six Sigma framework of define, measure, analyze, implement, and control. Participates in strategic planning process and aligns departmental and unit goals and objectives with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Mentors and coaches staff in transforming culture, processes, and clinical practice to meet the demands of cutting-edge PACU care. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Must meet one of the following education requirements: A) Master's Degree in Nursing required (Master's Degree in progress acceptable with quarterly progress reports), or, B) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in Health, Administration, Education, or related field required, (Master's Degree in progress acceptable with quarterly progress reports), or, C) Registered Nurse with Bachelor's and Master's Degree in healthcare related field. Minimum three years nursing experience which has provided opportunity to demonstrate competencies in perioperative nursing, leadership, administration, education, and/or staff development required. Knowledge of healthcare law and finance required.

Knowledge and Skills: Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access; operate and/or troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors on computer screens; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place; read documents necessary to position.

Licensures and Certifications: Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
