Position Summary

The Senior Real Estate Analyst position is responsible for conducting and overseeing research for the Government Consulting and Valuation Advisory (GoVal) department. This includes reviewing property information, performing complex market studies, appraisals, feasibility studies and analyzing economic trends in designated regions as well as mentoring and training interns, junior real estate analysts, and real estate analysts. This position is expected to work in office during the first four months of employment, at a minimum. Flexible arrangements can be considered with Partner approval after that timeframe. This position reports to a designated manager on the GoVal team.

Your Contributions And Responsibilities

Conduct and oversee preliminary property screenings, market analyses, comparable rents surveys, and demand analyses. Perform complex market studies and appraisals of proposed and existing real estate developments, including portfolio engagements and scattered site projects. Develop and maintain effective client relationships by consistently demonstrating superior customer service, providing quality work products on a timely basis, and modeling professional integrity. Analyze demographic information of market area and economic trends which include employment, average wages, median incomes of market area and relation to demand of affordable housing in area. Analyze general housing market through comparison of renting and buying a home, construction of buildings and apartment market studies performed by other sources. Quantify excluded properties in the market area. Research and confirm improved and land sale comparables. Assist in performing Rent Comparability Studies by HUD guidelines. Assist with other duties, projects, or partner requests as assigned. Actively participate in the firm’s internal development programs, including staff training courses and Novoco webinars. Manage billing and invoicing for projects assigned. Ensure retainers are collected timely when required. Review and manage ValCoins. Provide feedback, training and mentorship of interns, real estate analysts, and junior real estate analysts. Assist in processes to improve productivity and growth of the business. Conduct and coordinate fieldwork.

Your Background And Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Display strong analytical skills, including the ability to gather information, conduct analyses and present findings Solid organizational and follow-through skills, performing work accurately with strong attention to detail Ability to meet deadlines and effectively prioritize a fast-paced and varied workload, effectively manage a variety of concurrent and shifting priorities Strong computer skills, including solid skill in the Microsoft Office suite (prefer advanced skill in Excel) Available for domestic travel as needed, including ability to drive to designated sites for in-person visits Ability to review and/or conduct market studies and assist in performing appraisals of proposed new construction and existing LIHTC properties.

Your Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related area plus 3-5 years of Real Estate research, market analysis, or commercial appraisal experience. Actively pursuing appraisal licensure with appraisal trainee status obtained and/or minimum of 75 hours of appraisal basic coursework (USPAP, procedures and principles) completed or 75 hours of machinery and technical specialty courses and working toward renewable energy asset valuation accreditation. Demonstration of intent to stay with firm for a significant period of time. This position must possess and maintain a current, valid Driver’s License and successfully complete a motor vehicle history check upon hire.
