Collaborate with the Hussman Center for Adults with Autism (HCAA) Director to provide oversight of the Autism Hiring Program (AHP), including program planning, implementation, and evaluation. Administer staff training and supervision, participant enrollment process and participant support. Identify, recruit and train new employers to become part of the business pipeline for the Autism Hiring Program. Provide administrative support to the AHP and HCAA including but not limited to tracking daily activities, collecting data to support research and quarterly reports. Represent the HCAA and AHP through outreach and events.

Responsibilities and Duties

Manage the AHP by coordinating, planning and implementing components of the program at Towson University and the Hussman Center for Adults with Autism. Coordinate and supervise program staff. Collaborate with research team at Towson University including Ph.D. students involved in the program implementation and evaluation.

Work with Autistic Adults- Review and interview applicants to the AHP. Participate in the selection and orientation of candidates for the program. Schedule and meet with the candidates throughout the session to support them with creating a plan for seeking and negotiating an employment opportunity based upon the candidates' strengths and abilities including researching employers, applying for positions, and preparing for interviews. Lead weekly sessions with candidates. Assist candidates as they receive job offers through the onboarding process, including requesting accommodations, trainings, navigating the workplace and other activities as appropriate.

Work with Employers- Work with employers to understand qualifications for available positions, helping onboard candidates, request reasonable accommodations, provide training for management and staff as appropriate. Working with both candidates and employers to maintain employment for candidates who are hired, providing guidance and support on an as needed basis over a period of one year and support as negotiated after that time. Analyze how to maximize naturally occurring supports, building on the organization's training and development programs to ensure that the candidates will have adequate on-going support resulting in continuing meaningful employment. Conduct meetings with the employer and candidate as appropriate to assist in reviewing job descriptions, creating job supports, and terms of employment (e.g., hours, pay). Set up on-going post-placement supports at regular intervals and monitoring the employment relationship to ensure satisfaction of both the individual and the employer. Maintain open communication with HCAA, Autism Society of Maryland (AUSOM), and other professionals as needed. Support problem resolution processes by coaching the employer and the employee, while respecting the business culture, organizational processes, and policies and procedures.

Maintain a log detailing interactions and activities with both candidates and employers. Track and provide data on candidates and employers (i.e., dates hired, salary, etc.) to inform donors, grant reports and other activities as appropriate. Conduct periodic check-ins with graduates of the program- employed and seeking employment/new position to ensure they're progressing, and to provide guidance.

Participate in Hussman Center staff meetings, events, and related activities. Support preparation and review of materials for dissemination in a variety of formats. Disseminate information about the Hussman Center through outreach, information tables at events, publications and provide educational sessions for the community that are linked to the Hussman Center.

Qualifications and Skills

Required:

Bachelor's degree in a professional field related to individuals with autism or other disabilities (i.e. Special Education, Counseling, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Vocational Rehabilitation, Disability Studies, Social Work, or similar). Two years of experience. Prior experience leading programs, and teaching or working with individuals with autism. Professional demeanor and ability to interact and build relationships with employers and University faculty/staff. Strong decision making and problem solving skills.

Preferred:

Prior experience creating work-based learning opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Prior program development, implementation, and evaluation experience.

Salary and Benefits

$60,000 annually and a contract that offers annual leave, holidays, sick days, and tuition remission.
