Tax Accountant

CFS is working with a privately held vertically integrated real estate development company that is looking for a Tax Accountant to join their team.

Overview:

The Senior Tax Accountant will assist in managing and overseeing tax compliance, planning, and reporting processes. The ideal candidate is working in the tax department of a public accounting firm, large or small, and will have basic knowledge of tax regulations and accounting principles as they relate to real estate, pass-through entities, and individual taxpayers as well as an attention to detail, good communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare & review workpapers for internal and external tax return preparation. Including individuals, partnerships, trusts, s-corporations & private foundations.
• Review tax returns prepared both internally and by external accounting firms.
• Support internal accounting staff by reviewing depreciation, amortization, tax capital & other tax focused schedules in preparation of year-end financial reporting.
• Assist with annual compliance and responses to audit and inquiry notices from various taxing jurisdictions.
• Participate in short and long-term income & estate tax planning, tax credit utilization & other ad-hoc projects.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in accounting; CPA certification preferred but not required.
• 3 - 5 years of progressive experience in taxation accounting, preferably high-net worth individual and/or real estate industry concentration.
• Proficient in Excel, accounting, and tax preparation software.
• Strong analytical skills, superior attention to detail, motivated & self-starter.
