Description

The Senior Plant Cost Accountant is an integral member of the accounting team. They will perform a variety of cost accounting assignments within the company's manufacturing operations, analytics, and reporting, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, assisting other accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a complex manufacturing environment and will be responsible for the Standard Costing activities, BOMs and routing maintenance related to processing plants. Research and take corrective actions on cost related issues. Support inventory related questions and analysis. Prepare and present monthly reporting of various analyses as well as ad-hoc reports for management. This is an on-site position.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain the General ledger including:
  1. Calculation and recording of monthly journal entries.
  2. Complete and maintain month account reconciliations.
  3. Review and analyze monthly financial results, working with operations management to provide insight and counsel on operational tactics and strategies.
  4. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.
  • Monthly reconciliation of inventory and review of changes
  • Establish and maintain accurate cost accounting records for bills of material, material, labor, and overhead costs. Plan, collect, and analyze data to drive the cost revaluation processes; implement cost updates periodically such as raw materials, labor, and overhead rates for inventory reporting.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of manufacturing costs and processes to identify cost savings and operational efficiencies opportunities.
  • Fixed Assets: Support capital expenditure activities by maintaining, updating fixed asset module, determining what is capitalizable based on company's accounting policies and GAAP, along with useful life, asset type and depreciation method and comparing actual vs budgeted amounts.
  • Assist with completion of budgets, forecasts and other future financial plans.
  • Develop, document and maintain company accounting procedures and processes.
  • Assist in audit preparation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting & 4+ years progressive experience in cost accounting, or related experience
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and data mining ability.
  • Strong internal control mindset with ability to identify and remediate process inefficiencies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, and ability to clearly articulate complex information.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and be well organized; adjust plans to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Exceptional computer skills; strong working knowledge of Microsoft office applications, specifically Excel.
  • Solid work ethic with a high level of energy and integrity.
  • Adaptable to change and willingness to learn and handle new or evolving assignments.
  • Not afraid to ask questions and is persistent on follow-up.
  • MS Excel Super - User
  • Comfortable working with multiple accounting software and strong Excel skills
  • o Preference for experience with Sage 100, Global Shop Solutions or Macola ERP systems
Supervisory Experience:
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Travel:
  • This position does not require travel.
Hours:
  • 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday with a one-hour unpaid lunch.
  • Departmental demands may necessitate additional work outside of the standard work hours.
