Job Summary of the Manufacturing Engineer:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing new processes for the production of existing products. They design and fabricate test fixtures, and also design, develop, and purchase equipment to ensure quality and cost-effective product manufacturing. This role involves the design, layout, and engineering of tooling, equipment, and machinery. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer monitors project schedules, provides accurate cost estimates, and troubleshoots machinery to ensure efficient and high-quality production.

Qualifications of Manufacturing Engineer:

- Serve as the technical expert for assembly, including knowledge in material strength, manufacturing processes, OSHA standards, electrical/pneumatic controls, fluid power, and tool/fixture design and construction.

- Obtain quote requests for capital expenditures and justify the purchase of equipment.

- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers of manufacturing equipment.

- Write and update manufacturing processes to ensure proper methods are followed.

- Assist with the product design of new and existing manufacturing processes and methods.

- Provide training on the operation and preventative maintenance of installed equipment.

Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer:

- Act as the technical expert for assembly processes, including automatic assembly technology, PLC integration/programming, lean principles, vision detection/programming, and value stream mapping.

- Design and oversee the installation of production tools, fixtures, jigs, and workstations to improve safety, efficiency, and profitability.

- Manage projects within established budgets.

- Monitor government requirements (EPA, OSHA, etc.) and ensure compliance with established standards.

- Provide input on costs and set manufacturing standards for cost-reduced products.

- Calculate the feasibility of production projects to ensure return on investment and maintain product quality.

- Design and supervise the installation of equipment and systems to improve efficiency and profitability.

- Maintain manufacturing-related documentation and information.

- Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve efficiency and profitability.

- Program programmable controllers/machines used in manufacturing processes.

- Support the continual improvement and compliance of QMS and EMS.

- Manage projects to meet goals for scope, budget, and schedule.

- Write procedures and train plant personnel on operating newly installed or modified equipment.

- Ensure that department production processes meet goals for safety, efficiency, reliability, and capability.
