Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7am - 5pm
Employment Type: Full Onsite

Overview:

Client is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL. This role is critical to ensuring that our production processes are efficient, cost-effective, and of the highest quality. The successful candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing environments, with a preference for those with automotive experience and a solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of process technicians and other technical direct reports.
  • Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to achieve departmental goals.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures within the department.
  • Develop and implement both manual and automated production processes.
  • Create and update process documentation and procedural instructions.
  • Conduct labor studies to establish labor standards for various operations.
  • Define and procure necessary tooling and fixtures for manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze and evaluate manufacturing methods to improve cost, safety, productivity, and quality.
  • Qualify and develop new specifications for manufacturing processes.
  • Work closely with other engineering groups including Design, Assembly, Tube Fabrication, and Paint.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and improving manufacturing equipment.
  • Participate in the preparation and management of the departmental budget.
  • Review preliminary designs to recommend cost reductions and improve manufacturability and quality.
  • Develop and recommend detailed capital equipment studies.
  • Drive lean culture initiatives and minimize production downtime during improvement projects and model year changes.
  • Perform assessments and make critical decisions in line-down situations.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, with a preference for automotive experience.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to implement cost-saving measures.
  • Experience with both manual and automated production processes.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to provide feedback and collaborate with various engineering groups.
  • Experience with budget preparation and management.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
