Position Overview:

La Sierra University is seeking motivated and dependable students to serve as Pacers for the 2024 graduation ceremony. As a Pacer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the pace and orderliness of the procession of graduates, ensuring that the event runs smoothly and efficiently. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the success of a significant milestone for our graduates and their families.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain an appropriate and steady pace while leading or guiding groups of graduates during the procession.
  • Ensure that graduates stay in their assigned order and maintain proper spacing throughout the procession.
  • Coordinate with event organizers and fellow Pacers to synchronize the movement of graduates and ensure a seamless procession.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to graduates as needed, such as directing them to their designated seating areas or answering questions about the procession.
  • Monitor the progress of the procession and adjust pace as necessary to accommodate any changes or unexpected circumstances.
  • Communicate effectively with event staff and volunteers to coordinate efforts and address any issues or concerns that arise during the procession.
  • Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor at all times, representing La Sierra University positively to graduates, families, and guests.
  • Assist with any additional duties or tasks related to the graduation ceremony as assigned by event organizers.
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled as a student at La Sierra University.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain a consistent pace and lead groups effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a commitment to fulfilling assigned shifts.
  • Previous experience in event coordination, leadership, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Must be available to work 8-10 hours throughout the graduation weekend.
  • Must be available to work June 14, 15, and 16

Pay Rate:

The hourly pay rate for this position is $16.00 per hour.
