Apprentice MachinistWeir MineralsSt Louis, MOOnsitePurpose of Role: Apprenticeships are a time honored tradition in the skilled trades and are proven to be an excellent training method. Throughout the program the apprentices are given periodic reviews and wage increases based on performance and at the end of the 8,000 hours, the apprentice will be at the final hourly wage established in the offer letter as long as performance requirements are met. At that point, they will be a class B Machinist, per Weir Minerals St. Louis guidelines. Machinists with experience also benefit from serving in our apprenticeship program. Key Responsibilities: Focus Area: Assists with the setup and operation of equipment alongside a working machinist.Focus Area: Read blueprints to understand customer specifications and using a variety of tools to help the machinist set-up, operate, or repair the machineFocus Area: Learn about industry standards and regulations, materials used in production, safety policies, formula calculations, proper documentation, and appropriate communication with the manufacturerSafety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above.Required to be enrolling or currently enrolled in PMT programApprentices will be required to maintain a 3.0 GPA if still in schoolWeight will not exceed 45 pounds without assistance.Manufacturing environment - PPE required.Founded in 1871, Weir is a world leading engineering business with a purpose to make mining operations smarter, more efficient and sustainable.
