Our client, a leader in developing products helping to keep customers and the Navy, #1 in the world, is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join their team, located in Houston, TX . The chosen candidate shall possess the experience and the ability to understand, interpret and correctly apply national codes and standards such as IRC, IBC, ASCE-7, ACI, and AISC. Responsibilities Provide design for structural components necessary for the development of a project. Perform structural wood and steel calculations for commercial and residential projects. Perform reinforced concrete calculations for building slabs, spread footings, retaining walls etc. Keep up to date on new engineering processes, techniques, and IMS and standards. Ensure that effective methods and design/engineering techniques are used. Resolve project issues and problems. Provide technical guidance to co-workers. Contribute to a team environment by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner. Work autonomously without direct supervision. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in either Civil or Structural or a related discipline is required. State of Texas Structural Engineer License (PE) is required. 7 plus years of experience in residential and commercial engineering is required. Strong working knowledge of design codes such as IRC, IBC, ASCE-7, ACI, and AISC is required. Proficiency in using analytical software and experience using AutoCAD, RISA and MS Office is required. Strong communication skills and interface skills with clients and project team members. Ability to multi-task, and a willingness to quickly change work assignments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Experience and success in working as an individual contributor is essential in this role. Experience in working in a diverse work culture is strongly preferred. Experience working within a team culture and environment is essential in this role.
