Rise Up Summer Program Academic Support

Description of Service Opportunity:

The Rise Up Summer Program is a 4-week summer learning experience for rising 9th graders whom CPS as identified as needing additional academic skill development to reach proficiency. Rise Up students will receive targeted, developmentally responsive instruction in the subjects of Mathematics, English Language Arts, Physics, and Social Justice. Curriculum and instruction will be student-centered and focus on active learning to motivate and engage students.

The Rise Up Summer Program Academic Support person may perform the following duties to help support and carry-out this 4-week summer program:

-attend planning meetings prior to the start of the program
-assist the classroom teachers in helping students meet the goals and objectives outlined by the Rise Up staff
-monitor students during breakfast and lunch
-perform other duties as direct by the Principal
-provide academic and instructional support for the program
-help maintain a school climate that promotes high expectations for all students.

Minimum Requirements:

Associates degree and experience working with high school students in academic support/youth development settings.

Length of Contract:

July 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024

Contract Amount:

$35.00 per hour, Not to exceed $5250.00
