The Electrical Estimator will play a crucial role in securing profitable electrical projects by providing accurate technical estimations from bid preparation to job closeout documentation. This role involves detailed analysis, collaboration with various stakeholders, and ensuring project success and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare proposal specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
  • Conduct quantity takeoff and entry into estimating software.
  • Solicit and review vendor and subcontractor quotations.
  • Monitor current material pricing levels and incorporate them into estimates.
  • Review and estimate addenda as required.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and tour job sites to confirm requisite take-offs.
  • Draft and submit proposal documents.
  • Follow post-bid closeout procedures.
  • Attend weekly estimating team meetings.
  • Provide support to field operations regarding electrical estimates.
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-10 years' experience with an electrical contractor.
  • Knowledge of electrical construction and theory acquired through completion of an electrical training program, two-year technical or business degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with Accubid, McCormick, and Conest software.
  • Working knowledge of electrical installation, estimating techniques, and cost control.
  • Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
  • Ability to perform detailed work and meet deadlines successfully.
  • Must have a stable work history.
  • Previous management or supervisory experience is preferred but not required.

  • Excellent human relations skills with a focus on confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in conceptual estimates and financial analysis.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Uses active listening skills and questions as appropriate.
  • Communicates respectfully, avoiding derogatory language, dressing appropriately, and following instructions.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to consider potential actions and make sound decisions.
