**Description**

The Buyer is responsible for developing and maintaining business relationships with vendors in order to facilitate purchasing materials at lowest cost, consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source, urgency of need and scheduling deliveries. Reviews bids, quotes, and purchase orders for accuracy and applicability.

**Your Responsibilities **

- Ability to handle responsibilities with effective interpersonal skills and to effectively interface with others inside and outside the Company is required.

- Initiate purchase orders for specific commodities as directed by Materials Manager.

- Develop and maintains acceptable vendor base for specified purchased materials.

- Maintain written and computerized records and files for efficient operation.

- Assist with the preparation of budget forecasts.

- Maintain acceptable inventory levels as determined by the Materials Manager.

- Develop and maintain an acceptable knowledge level of MRP systems.

- Works closely with the Materials Manager and Material Planners to ensure purchasing and inventory objectives are attained.

- Negotiate prices, terms, etc., with vendors on specified material. Review pricing strategy with Materials Manager.

- A sense of urgency is essential while coordinating with necessary departments to ensure material requirements are met.

Other Duties:

- Completes other duties as assigned by Materials Manager.

Education Required: SMT Certificate or Supply Chain & Operations Management Diploma or equivalent experience.

Experience Required: 3 to 5 years experience in a Manufacturing environment

Physical Skill and Effort: Limited manual dexterity required. Work requires infrequent physical effort. Requires moderate speed and accuracy operating office equipment. Work requires simple, easy muscular movements.

Working Conditions and Hazards: Normal plant, shop, field or office conditions. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features. Negligible/little or no exposure to hazardous conditions.
